The Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship Network’s Very Own Professor Caslin delivered first-ever lecture series on Social Entrepreneurship to The Fund for American Studies Summer Scholars

WASHINGTON, July 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — The Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship Network’s (GCSEN) Professor Mike Caslin recently delivered a first-ever lecture series on “Renewing the Spirit of Enterprise in Millennials via Social Entrepreneurship” to The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) on Tuesday, June 14th.

Professor Caslin was asked to give one lecture to 30 students on the trending topic of social entrepreneurship, but sparked the interest of students from over 90 colleges and universities. TFAS hosted three workshops – one in the morning, one in the afternoon at its national headquarters and one workshop at George Mason University– Arlington.

Workshop attendee and student from Muhlenberg College, Cynthia Silva reported that she, as well as many of her classmates, enjoyed the advice that Professor Caslin was sharing. “We were all impressed with his experience and willingness to teach others through the Boot Camp. In the second workshop, he captivated us with his great public speaking skills and definitely motivated some of my classmates to look into being social entrepreneurs.”

Mirroring what was recently taught at the Meaning Makers Boot Camp at Wheaton College in Norton, MA and featured in 169 media outlets with 92 million viewers around the world, Professor Caslin talked about what it means to have millennials create their own social enterprise as a way to “make meaning and make money”.

The presentation was so captivating that it inspired one student, Heather Strange from The University of Houston- Downtown, to take the idea of social entrepreneurship and encourage members of Houston Millennials to start their own businesses.

“Everyone has the power to change the world in their own way, by tapping into their unique insights, passions and spirit of enterprise,” explained Professor Caslin. He told TFAS students that they can make an impact on their own career and their local community, while also making money and strengthening the local economy.
